Homemade Chocolate Walnut Blondies | Freezer Friendly Recipe (2024)

Want to know what’s amazing? These chocolate walnut blondies. This my friends, THIS is delicious and perfect and delicious, and did I already say delicious? I mean this is a chewy, and soft and moist blondie stuffed with all the little chocolate pieces (that get melted and perfect) and lots of crunchy walnut pieces. Heaven on Earth if you ask me.

Are you still asking yourself why this is so good? It’s thanks to the chocolate overload. So you can get excited with me because this is perfect for all the choco lovers out there *raises hand*

But want to know what’s even better than that? They are freezer friendly. I like to make sure that I’m keeping my freezer stocked all the time but not only with savory dishes and delicious dinners but with desserts and snacks as well.

Freezer friendly desserts are actually the most important part of my cooking routine – I know, it’s a bit unexpected – but it has been a total life saver. With freezer friendly treats such as this chocolate and walnut blondies, I’m able to pull out a fancy 5-star dinner experience in no time. I’m also able to satisfy all those cravings that kids (and honestly adults!) have.

And I’m also able to pull out a date night with the hubby without needing a ton of extra effort or cooking on my part. I like to make a big batch of them, slice them into big squares and tight wrap them in plastic film before taking to the freezer. You can let them thaw at room temperature or pop them real quick in the oven before serving.

And if you want to go all out and create one of those drool-worthy desserts just add a big scoop of vanilla ice cream on top and a generous drizzle of chocolate syrup!

Seriously…. LOOK at how delicious that looks close up!

A couple of questions…the recipe says “2 butter sticks”, but also says “1/2 cup”. A regular stick of butter is 1/2 cup- do I want 2 sticks, or 1/2 cup? Also, what size pan did you use? The picture looks like a loaf pan, but the way my family eats brownies, I may need to double it for a 9×13. Thanks for the recipe – I’m trying it tonight!

If I hadn’t been there when she was born, I’d wonder if my middle child was really mine. She doesn’t care about chocolate. Who doesn’t LOOOOOVE chocolate? These blondes sound like a treat she’d enjoy, plus I could have the chocolate I adore.

these look so decadently delish! I can’t wait to try them this weekend with my kids! And of course the best part is that I can freeze and eat them as needed as opposed to eating them all in one sitting!

I like that these are freezer friendly. I like to eat them, but not all at once. I would like for them to keep for some time, so the best way for that to happen is to freeze them.

FAQs

What's the difference between a blondie and a brownie? ›

Blondies use vanilla extract and brown sugar instead of cocoa powder to get their flavor, while brownies use chocolate and cocoa. Plus, brownies usually include white sugar instead of brown sugar.

How long do blondies last in the freezer? ›

Store blondies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week, or freeze for up to 3 months. Did you love the recipe?

Why are they called slu*tty brownies? ›

Just one month after Amanda shared her dessert creation, she posted a recipe for a cookie-brownie hybrid similar to Amanda's and wrote, “They're called slu*tty Brownies because they're oh so easy, and more than a little bit filthy.” Her post ended with the introduction of “#slu*ttybrownie.” A mashup of already beloved ...

Are blondies supposed to be gooey? ›

This could be personal preference, but I say YES! A good blondie should be chewy, gooey in the middle and firm around the edges.

Can I eat a blondie if refrigerated for 2 weeks? ›

Blondies: best kept in the fridge, and can be enjoyed within 7 days (enjoy straight from the fridge for a fudgy blondie, or leave out for a softer blondie.) Cookies: should always be kept in the box or air tight container – not in the fridge, best eaten on the day of arrival or up to 3 days later.

Why did my blondies turn green? ›

It turns out that sunflowers (including the seeds) contain chlorophyll, which reacts with the baking powder/soda in a recipe, and turns the baked product green once cooled. In order to eliminate the green tint, you can add a splash of lemon juice to the wet ingredients, and reduce the leavening in the recipe by half.

Why are my blondies still gooey? ›

If your blondies are still a little gooey for your liking after they've cooled, let them sit on a cooling rack overnight, lightly covered with plastic wrap. This period of time will help them solidify even more. Also, be sure your oven is actually at the temperature it says it is.

What is the difference between a blondie and a white chocolate brownie? ›

Blondies are made without chocolate, while white chocolate brownies are made with melted chocolate in the batter (like regular brownies!). No, they're not brown, but they are made much like brownies are and still have a rich chewy fudgy-like brownie texture, so they're brownies to me!

Why is it called a blondie brownie? ›

This means the original brownies were blondies but blondies get their name from brownies. And where do brownies get their name from? Not their colour. Brownies take their name from the mischievous little creatures - called 'brownies'' - that featured in the cartoons and poems of the Candian author Palmer Cox.

Why are they called blondie? ›

Originally billed as Angel and the Snake for two shows in August 1974, they had renamed themselves Blondie by October 1974, while Ivan Kral joined the band on guitar. The new name derived from comments made by truck drivers who catcalled "Hey, Blondie" to Harry as they drove past.

What are the three types of brownies? ›

Brownie textures fall into three general camps… Cakey, fudgy and chewy. Cakey brownies, like the name implies, are light, moist and airy, with a slightly fluffy, cake-like interior. Fudgy brownies are moist, dense and gooey, with almost the texture of fudge, but not quite as compact.
