How to Get Your Horse
There are a few ways to get a horse for free in Kingdom Come: Deliverance. You can either steal a horse or be gifted one. Both methods get you free horse, but stealing is risky and less noble. Of course, you can always drop some coin to purchase a better horse as well, but this option won’t arise until a few hours into the game.
Your first horse will be the one you use to flee Skalitz, but your time with this horse is short lived.
How to Get a Horse in Talmberg
With proper planning, it’s possible to get a horse before leaving Talmberg in Kingdom Come: Deliverance. During the “Run!” main story quest, you will eventually need to find a way to leave Talmberg. One way to get out of Talmberg is to steal a set of guard armor.
Disguised in the Talmberg Armor, Henry can mount and steal a horse from the stables on his way out of Talmberg. Even if the guards catch you, you can quickly flee on horseback before getting caught. How to Get a Horse in Rattay
You can also earn a free horse in Rattay by following the main questline in Kingdom Come: Deliverance. As you play through the game, you’ll eventually arrive in Rattay where you meet a fellow named Hans Capon. You will be given a quest called The Prey, where you must go on a hunting expedition in the woods with Hans.
At dawn, you’ll meet up with Hans and follow him to the hunting grounds. Make sure to stock up on plenty of arrows before you head out. You are basically competing with Hans for who can hunt the most hares. You only need to capture three or four hares to beat Hans.
Henry must go on another hunting expedition with Lord Capon, but this time you’re after some boar. When Hans botches the boar shot, the two of you chase after it through the woods, then Hans goes missing. Eventually you find that he’s been captured by Cuman bandits and is tied up at their nearby camp. Defeat the bandits and rescue Hans. When you return to Rattay, you are given a horse named ‘Pebbles’ as a reward for saving Hans.
There you go, now you have your very own mount in Kingdom Come: Deliverance. Its stats aren’t great, but Pebbles gets the job done.
How to Buy a Horse
Although you may have grown attached to Pebbles, you will eventually need to upgrade to a better horse that’s faster and stronger. Getting a better horse comes at a price, so you may want to save up some money before investing in a new mount.
You can purchase a new horse from Horse Traders in various towns in Kingdom Come: Deliverance, including the towns of Merhojed, Neuhof, and Uzhitz. Each horse has its own Tier level and individual stats for speed, stamina, courage, and capacity that can improve over time with enough riding experience.
Higher-tier horses will have better stats, but tend to be more costly. You can inspect each horse in the stables to see which you’d want. When ready, speak with the Horse Trader to name which horse you’d like to buy. You can haggle the price, but you should probably come prepared with at least a thousand Groschen just in case.
