Thompson Hollywood, by Hyatt is a sophisticated hotel with a rooftop pool and top-floor bar offering stunning city views. The hotel also features one of the world's most famous and oldest pizza operations, serving Neapolitan-style pies in a garden oasis just off the main drag. Additionally, it houses a 15-year-old restaurant known for its warm ambiance, refined decor, and locally sourced ingredients.
This place was just lovely overall. Beginning with Austin at the front desk whose customer service was superlative. The room was great, the other staff were great, the rooftop pool area was great, the location was great. Hyatt Globalist perks made it an even better value. The only downside was that on floor 9 you could hear a little of the rooftop bar (not enough to annoy me or keep me from sleeping, but still audible). The Thompson & its people met or exceeded every expectation.

I had stayed here once before and really loved my room. It had an expansive outdoor terrace along with a decent size room for LA. So I decided to try The Thompson again and I asked for the same room. They didn’t honor my request at first but when I called the front desk, they made it right for me. I appreciate that. The rooms are modern, yet comfortable. It has a fully stocked mini-bar, which, if you have read my reviews in the past, you know I value greatly. The bed is comfortable and the shower is exceptional. And that’s really all you can ask for in a hotel for one night’s stay.

We recently stayed here on the second half of our LA trip and I must say this is a really nice hotel. Typical with all Thompson properties everything is chic and modern. Everyone who worked at the hotel were fantastic and we had wonderful service. The service on the rooftop for lunch and drinks was rather slow but we understood it was the holiday weekend so they seemed understaffed. The rooftop pool was a wonderful place to spend the day but the number of chairs compared to how busy the hotel was meant people weren't always able to have a place to sit. The reason why this isn't getting a 5 is the location of the hotel. LA has deteriorated substantially since I was last there in 2019. There are homeless people everywhere with lots of open drug use and generally Hollywood, which has always been a bit dirty, doesn't feel that safe at all. This is the biggest detractor from this location.

Was having 3 nights at the end of August. Hotel is definitely very comfortable, fine furnished and rooms spacious and clean. View depends from the position btw; mine on 7th floor was having a view towards south, nothing spectacular, but nice; some have only windows towards the inside patio. Accommodation was fast and with no issues at all. Services are generally very high tend (roof-top bar, swimming pool, breakfast), but depending on the waiters serving you (one of the 3 breakfast we got all but the order we made… since waiter was massing up there order). Quality of the breakfasts is good, and price adequate to the wonderful location (you can have a table watching the Hollywood sign). Location is super if you target visits to the walk of fame. Definitely recommended.

It is very convenient for the Hollywood bowl and other Hollywood attractions. The bar and lobby are nice and the rooms were nice with all the amenities. We were there on a Sat night and the attached club was going off. If you're into that it's great, but we could hear it going off in our room a bit. Not really loud, but you could feel/hear the beat.Valet was $60

The Thompson Hotel is just a wonderful atmosphere and great place to stay for any occasion/event or business travel. The staff is super kind and the atmosphere inside the hotel is relaxing. The area isn't safe to walk around at night, but it's centrally located to many venues and easy to take a ride share anywhere you need to go. Thank you Thompson!

I've had the best service from my boys Terrance and Joshua. They are so friendly and super attentive. I love that they carrying on a conversation. Both men seem to really enjoy their job. Food is phenomenal and their heated pool and outdoor bar is very relaxing!

I recently had an incredible stay at Thompson Hollywood, which is definitely one of the top hotel experiences I’ve had in the US. Not only is it cost-effective, but it also exceeds expectations in every way. The bed was enormous and super comfy, perfect for a good night's sleep. The room’s vibe was outstanding—clean, with a large TV and a radio by the bed that played Mariah Carey's "Fantasy," one of my all-time favorite tunes, which really got me excited. The room’s setup was very stylish, especially the closet. It featured transparent glass doors with cool lighting inside that added a modern touch. The bathroom didn’t disappoint either, with lovely lighting and excellent water pressure in the shower, creating a spa-like atmosphere.Another fantastic feature was the hotel's spacious rooftop, which occasionally hosts parties, adding a vibrant and eventful feel to the stay. Additionally, the gym was top-notch, well-equipped and maintained, making it easy to keep up with my workouts. Overall, the Thompson Hollywood is a must-stay hotel that truly makes your visit memorable.

Beautiful hotel, great location and a super comfortable bed.Unfortunately, my stay was over a weekend when there was a party on the Saturday night. The party went on until 3:30am and I was able to hear the entire party all night. The staff on reception were pleasant and helpful. However, the staff on the terrace not so much. They made no effort to come and take food/drink orders whilst I was at the pool over the two days I spent there. On the one occasion, I took myself to the bar to order food. I waited seven minutes before I had to go and find a member of staff as they had all disappeared. They were participating in a staff appreciation celebration, which I am fully supportive of, however, you can't leave your bar/restaurant completely unattended for this length of time..After getting my food, my empty dishes stayed with me by the pool for a few hours. Nobody came around to clear my dirty plates. Very inattentive staff.

I booked this place for my family trip and really enjoyed the ambiance and amenities there. The lady who help me with checking in at front desk was so nice to give us the free cocktail vouchers for us to enjoy my birthday night! Thank you❤️ that made our entire week. There is a bar and swimming pool at the rooftop and you might hear the noise from there if you have sensitive ear like me, but it wasn’t really bothered me since it was the weekday. Definitely recommend this hotel for your trip!

I have stayed at this hotel for business trips. Rooms are spacious for one person, gym is small but functional. Pool and breakfast area is nice. Walking distance to my office. Good rooftop Lounges in the area to hangout with coworkers after work. Staff is nice and friendly.

I have to say this hotel was amazing! I ignored the bad reviews I saw as I was already aware of LA homeless population. The location is great! Close to many things!! I stood here for 4 nights The room was beautiful with an amazing terrace! Everyone was polite . The pool was gorgeous with an amazing view and pool side services 🙏🏼. I was aware of all fees up front. I feel if you complain about fees you shouldn’t be on vacation. I also had amazing sleep I was not once bothered by the night club, I actually didn’t hear it and I’m a nightlife person. We had amazing AC which was great with LA heat. Amazing hot running showers. Everything was great! I would stay here again🙏🏼❤️ Thank you Thompson ‼️

Hotel staff were very nice and friendly. Received the best customer service in LA. The room was nice and spacious. However though, everything else is expensive... parking to food to drinks.... other than that, we had a great time.

Like many people said, this is a night club first and second a hotel, the vibrations and sound is definitely something. I asked for upgrade room, not a word. For 3 times I requested extra towels from the front desk and nothing, I personally ask for bucket of ice and never showed up, but I moved a bottle of Evian water and I got a charge in my invoice. The restaurant staff at morning was great, very nice attitude and of course the rooftop view is unique.

Location is perfect here, allowing you to explore Hollywood by foot or a short drive to many attractions. Rooms are well appointed and comfortable. They have the Thompson touch which we enjoy. Many restaurants and bars to choose from all with their own experience, lots of fun. Service could improve, our check in was very casual without much information, valet captain on 8.2 was the rudest person at the hotel. He made us feel like an inconvenience and belittled us for providing an incorrect valet ticket, we had two vehicles and made a mistake. None of the staff say hello, welcome back, can I help etc. seems they don’t want to work there and just have to earn a paycheck. Pool is small but fun, on the rooftop, here also the service was subpar. Overall, a good place to stay, just wish the service was warmer.

Hotel is located in Hollywood area and there are homeless people around. Hotel has a minimalist decor and style. Hotel employees are young and they could provide a high level customer service. Room had the minimum amenities, even there wasn’t a chair and a table. Our room was very compact which was fine for two adults. Rooftop is small, with limited seats. We tried breakfast for two days and it wasn’t impressive. It was delicious but for the price, we could definitely get something better. I won’t stay in this hotel next time. We stayed 5 nights in April 2022, I feel this hotel is ok for a short business trip!

I am a lifetime globalist and had received the usual email letting me know my room was ready, room 905. I checked in on line and I was told it was ready. When we arrived the hotel had placed us in a different room on the 3rd floor. I showed them that I had a Hollywood Hills room and they said this was better. We took a look and there was a patio surrounded by 40 foot high concrete walls, think prison. When I asked for my original room they told me they had given it to someone else. We ended up with a room on the 7th floor. The room was sparse, not even a coffee maker, and only 1 towel per guest. There wasn't even an occupancy sign for the front door. It went downhill at breakfast. Our booth had a huge hole in the seat. The bacon was raw. Honestly I have no idea what is going on here.

Comfortable hotel located close to Hollywood boulevard. Convenient to reach key attractions in the area, although the area in general is quite dodgy with lots of homeless. Staff is helpful. Gym is in really good condition. I’ve read lots of complaints about the rooftop bar and the music was audible for quite a while, but in general it did not disturb the rest (perhaps since my room was on lower floors). Quality of breakfast could be improved.

DO NOT STAY HERE! VERY RUDE! I asked for clarification at check in that I was not being charged & my card was being held for incidentals as I’d already paid $47 hotel fees & they said it was just a hold & I was not going to be charged FEES & they charged me FEES and refused to email me my bill. Took multiple calls for them to email me my bill. And were extremely rude! & loud banging noise from the AC!!! I rec the Tommie Hotel next door (stayed there before & the people were very nice & accommodating & don’t charge you fees when they say you won’t be charged!) over this TERRIBLE RUDE PLACE! I asked for clarification at check-in & they went against what they said & were no help yet very rude.

Good value for a luxury boutique hotel. The hotel is not a chain but very charming and conveniently located in the Burbank/North Hollywood area. It is a pretty laid back hotel that doesn’t have all of the pomp and circumstance of most luxury hotels. We stayed here as a family and had a few friends come over for drinks at the bar. The have real drinks and actually make their own blends and cocktails. The bartender is down to earth and will offer suggestions. This is a nice hotel that we will visit again.

Great stay at the Thompson Hollywood! The staff were very friendly and helpful in helping us check in, changing rooms because our fridge didn’t work and just greeting us on our way in and out.The rooms were very nice and spacious with a very modern decor. The house keeping came daily and set the room back to its clean state. There’s a very well equipped gym on the second floor with weights up to 90lbs and a squat rack and cardio machines. The rooftop pool is also very nice with a great view on the Hollywood hills. The pool has maybe 10-15 seats around, which gets filled up pretty quickly mid afternoon. The location is between Sunset and Hollywood Blvd, felt quite safe around the hotel. But a few blocks up towards Hollywood we came across some homelessness. Moving east and west around the hotel and onto Sunset Blvd felt safe.Great stay!

If you are traveling for business and are hoping to catch some sleep, I would not recommend Thompson Hollywood. As illustrated in the video, music from the rooftop is so loud that sleeping is impossible before 2AM (my room was located on the third floor). Other than that the rooms are spacious and clean, good party hotel but not recommended for business travel.

premium location around Hollywood.room is clean and well decorated. However, the front desk reception person is worse than 3 star hotel. And this place is a night club not a hotel. The person just threw room cards and coupons without putting them into the sleeves on the desk. I have never seen this before. I am not sure what was that sleeve for, DIY by myself? There was ZERO introduction of this hotel, none. The person just kept repeating "elevator is that way" after we got our room cards. Also, this is not the place for stay. The bar around roof level was loud when we were at 9F. Then we asked to change the room, moved down to 6F, improved, but still the bass penetrated thru the structure. You will be sharing the elevators with clubbers, which is poor design.Plus, valet parking was 60usd. Otherwise you have to find public parking by yourself overnight around the is Hollywood area.Overall it was disappointing, not recommend.

Stayed 2 nights last week of June. It's a clean, very beautiful hotel - in a very weird part off Hollywood Blvd. I had no clue this was a "Party" hotel until the first night & the reviews about music level were no where to be found - somehow these are getting filtered?I didn't have noise complaints from my room on the 5th Floor. Breakfast was good upstairs on the rooftop & service.Clean spot - just wish it were in a different part of LA.

Excellent hotel with great customer service. The rooms are big, cleaned twice a day, location is optimum near the downtown , very good buffet breakfast , end of the day customer service takes it to another level.

Stay away from this hotel. Especially during the weekend. We were there for 6 nights.apparently, the hotel owner decided to prioritize revenue from the nightclub or roof top instead of the hotel guest experience. Each room you can hear loud music till 2 AM.The front desk manager, Matt, is the most hostile and inhospitable people ever. When I asked him why there are no noticed posted on the website and no one said anything to us during check-in, he literally mocked us.As a Hyatt globalist, I suggest everyone who is on business trip or who wants to go to bed before 2AM stay away from this property.

Yet another modern Hyatt hotel in Hollywood. Thompson Hollywood is a stylish and good (not great!) hotel located smack in the middle of Hollywood, with everything that follows. Noisy (both from traffic and buildings around the hotel), and stepping over homeless people makes this a no go location for me. Staff ok with regards to "attentiveness" and service but not much more. Wonderful rooftop terrace with bar and pool for sunny days. Breakfast ok, rooms ok (but small in my opinion). To me, the best Hyatt hotel in Hollywood is still the Andaz on Sunset. I will probably not return here. 4 stars is generous from my end.

Love love love it. I requested early check-in on my reservation and when I got here it was ready. So nice to be able to drop our stuff and then check out the surrounding area. The desk clerks were very, very efficient and all of the people at the front checking bags and welcoming people were kind and courteous and helpful. I just a few days ago and this day is making me feel that I need to become loyalist.

Came across this hotel on Expedia when looking for a property in the Hollywood area and decided to book here when we saw how centrally located it is! The property itself is stunning, as soon as you walk into the lobby it smells fresh and is decorated very nicely. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming as soon as we walked in. I'm pretty sure the gentleman that checked us in on April 25th was David. He was able to accommodate our early check-in, which we really appreciated as we had a super early morning flight and wanted to get settled in before stepping out for the day. David offered us many recommendations of things to do/see in the area. The rooftop pool was so cute and clean. we enjoyed that there were ice water stations located in the lobby and by the pool. We ordered breakfast at the pool and I must say, I was impressed. I wasn't expecting it to be anything crazy but it was easily a 10/10. The room itself was clean and spacious. We also quite liked the scents used in the room, including the shower gel.Overall, I would love to stay here again. As mentioned, it was so close to a lot of spots we were visiting. Many reviews mentioned the hotel being loud at night, which honestly wasn't a problem for us as we were out at that time anyways. I definitely felt younger vibes from the hotel, which is why we enjoyed it a lot as we are all in our mid twenties and came here to have fun.10/10! Highly recommend

Really not worth the price, staff are really unhelpful and don't know what they are doing. Will charge your card 2-3 times and not care. Lock you out of your room and claim you haven't paid, when you've paid 2-3 times already.Have to go to their HR to get them to apologize and refund the 3x extra we paid. Location is very unsafe and there is not adequate room for set down of more than 2 cars outside.Rooms are nice and well maintained, mini-bar is priced like you need to own 4 mansions before you can afford it. Would not recommend.

Do not recommend if you value a goodnight’s rest. The reviews about the music/ noise are true. It’s horrible, and the staff does not compensate for the issue. In fact, I was charged and extra $100 to switch rooms. It’s a ADA room , but only the bathroom is slightly larger. Will not return.

I’d Like to preface this review by first stating that I have stayed at many other Thompson hotel locations and I am a huge fan of the overall Brand. That being said, this location is lacking tremendously in a lot of areas. Pros and cons below.Pros:-valet is friendly, fast, and efficient- in room dining delivery was prompt and food was decent-common areas are well appointed.Cons-- overall hospitality is severely lacking. Front desk staff appeared generally uninterested to greet guests. It was difficult to tell where I needed to check in at as the associates were wearing regular civilian attire as opposed to the more sleek uniforms many of the other Thompson hotels I’ve been to.- booked a standard room and it was quite possibly the worst room I’ve stayed in after spending close to 120 nights in Hyatt hotels this year. The room has nowhere for you to comfortably sit, no luggage rack, limited linens, no table to set your belongings on, I ended up having to set my room service tray over the bathroom sink because there is literally no where else to place it. I had to unpack my suitcase on the ground. The rooms itself had a huge wet stain on the carpet and the finishings gave the appearance of ikea.- lastly, the hotel offered no globalist recognition, complimentary water, room upgrade, etc. they also are the first Thompson to charge a pet fee of $150.-guest elevators are shared with the patrons going to the nightclub on the roof. Poor design in my opinion.- the neighborhood is quite frankly terrible. Any time of day you will have homeless people wondering around outside and sleeping on the sidewalk and trash littered everywhere. Please take these things into consideration when staying here on points or a cash rate. This is not the typical Thompson ethos you receive at other locations. +$300 a night will get you far more at other hotels in the area even in the Hyatt ecosystem

As someone who travels frequently, I can be a little picky on hotels, but I truly enjoyed my stay at this Thompson. The staff were super friendly from the moment I checked in until the day I checked out. I had some laundry service done and the team did a great job of picking everything up from my room and returning the items in a timely manner. The bar service was great during the evening and I really enjoyed their lobby - stunning. My room was super spacious, and light-filled which I really enjoyed. The room was always clean and I never had any issues with requesting anything. If you are traveling in the area, I would highly suggest this hotel.

Truly a great hotel experience. Friendly and helpful staff, clean and updated rooms, and a great lobby/bar areaI’m having a hard time understanding why people have rated this hotel badly. Only knock is the location, but you should know that staying in Hollywood is going to get a little Manky wherever you are.

Fantastic Globalist recognition. Very much appreciated the upgrade and service this hotel offers. Loved the Tivoli speaker in the room. Super useful for drowning out the club music upstairs. I was on the 5th floor and could barely hear the club. Good gym, good restaurants, and a fun night club at Bar Lis. Younger crowd, but also something for 30+ to enjoy. I very much enjoyed chatting with Costa at the lobby bar. Dude is a champ. Really fun experience. I will definitely be back!

BEWARE - don’t be fooled by the good reviews. Sure these reviews are from the night club patrons. This is a night club. Not a hotel. Not even ear plugs can stop the loud noise emanating from the roof top night club. The bass vibrates throughout the hotel. The rooms are small. The area has many homeless people.Lowes is a much better option and in a more desirable location for a fraction more money.

Disappointing Stay at the Thompson Hotel in HollywoodMy recent stay at the Thompson Hotel in Hollywood was far from the luxury experience I anticipated, and I feel compelled to share my experience to aid others in making an informed decision.Firstly, the hotel’s location is alarmingly unsettling. Contrary to what one might expect from its Hollywood setting, the immediate vicinity is plagued with severe issues. The streets are littered, marked with urine, and the presence of numerous homeless individuals makes it incredibly uncomfortable to even walk outside the hotel. This starkly contrasts the glamorous image of Hollywood and is significantly worse than the conditions found in Downtown.Upon arrival, the hospitality, or the lack thereof, further dampened our spirits. The staff across the board - from reception to valet service - displayed an appalling level of rudeness. It’s disheartening to encounter such unfriendly personnel, especially when you’re paying a premium for your stay. Speaking of which, the hotel charges an exorbitant parking fee of $60 per night, which is utterly disproportionate to the services provided. Our dissatisfaction was compounded when we were assigned a room of lesser quality than what we had booked, despite the hefty $400 per night rate. When we raised this issue, the reception staff, particularly one unfriendly individual, insisted it was the room we had booked. Only after presenting our booking confirmation, complete with images from the booking site, did they reluctantly assign us the correct room. This experience was not only frustrating but also reflective of a worrying lack of customer service and care.Regarding the amenities, the hotel fails to live up to its purported four-star status. We encountered broken fixtures, including a damaged toilet seat, which is unacceptable and frankly, something I’ve never seen before in accommodations of this category.Given these experiences, my advice to potential visitors is to reconsider investing their money in a stay at the Thompson Hotel. There are certainly better options available, where your business is valued, and your comfort is a priority. You might find yourself more satisfied at a motel, which is a stark commentary on the state of affairs at this establishment.

We had a lovely time at the Thompson Hollywood over a warm and sunny January weekend. The hotel is beautiful with many different seating areas in the lobby and a gorgeous rooftop pool and restaurant. We enjoyed a tasty breakfast here as well as lunch by the pool - idyllic! We requested a quiet room and didn’t hear any of the noise associated with the popular rooftop Bar Lis. Our balcony was amazing with comfortable chairs and a perfect view of the Hollywood sign. The rooms are comfortable and spacious with great showers.Service was friendly and accommodating. Loved the all-morning coffee station in the lobby!

Friendly staff, amazingly well cleaned and tidied room by all of the team that visited my room. Angeles did a wonderful making my room look nice. Roof top bar is really unique and different. Yes there's a bit of noise but it's a popular hotel in a great area. If you want a family experience stay in a family first hotel. People complaining need to do their research first.
